Brilliant Italian Baroque: Passionate Vivaldi and a Regional Premiere

 Join Musicians of the Old Post Road on March 27 and 28 for Virtuosi Italiani, a program of brilliant vocal and instrumental works.The concerts will include Vivaldi’s fiery motet In turbato mare, and his cantata All’ ombra di sospetto with soprano Kristen Watson, who made her Old Post Road debut last December to critical and audience acclaim. Also featured will be the regional premiere of Pietro Nardini’s Flute Concerto in D Major, with soloist Suzanne Stumpf, and lively sinfonias by Sammartini and Locatelli. Tickets may be purchased online.

This concert is dedicated to the memory of long-time Old Post Road supporter and volunteer, Joanne Hall.

Gioco Filharmonico - A Musical Dice Game

If you enjoyed the musical dice games played at our concerts, you can now play one at home! The musical dice game "Gioco Filharmonico" was published in Naples around 1800 and was attributed to Haydn. This edition has been partially reproduced and adapted to a practical format and is available for free download.

This podcast explores the musical interests of Thomas Jefferson, from his youthful days in rural Virginia as a young fiddler to his connection with singer and composer Maria Cosway while in Paris. Performances by the ensemble expand and illustrate the narrative.

First released in 1994, The Virtuoso Double Bass received much critical acclaim for its artistry and for the rediscovered repertoire it presents. The featured bassist David Sinclair is a true pioneer, having been the first player to revive the original tuning system and performance style necessary for the proper performance of the Viennese Classical bass repertoire.
