Debut CD Reissued!

First released in 1994, The Virtuoso Double Bass received much critical acclaim for its artistry and for the rediscovered repertoire it presents. The featured bassist David Sinclair is a true pioneer, having been the first player to revive the original tuning system and performance style necessary for the proper performance of the Viennese Classical bass repertoire.

The disc includes premiere recordings of a quartet by Sperger and divertimentos and cassations by Mannl, Vanhal, and Haydn.

In praise of the recording, The Strad magazine wrote, “This imaginative compilation is given persuasive currency by the performers, who bring grace and elegance to their period instruments.” The Boston Early Music News described that the players “give these well-turned pieces movement, poise and warmth...[the Haydn trio] is a stunning and unforgettable work of chamber music—this alone is worth the price of admission.”

With the first pressing long sold out, the organization and Titanic Records have decided to reissue this ground-breaking disc. It is now availabe and can be purchased at our online store.
